July : Maddie Millington “working with dyed wool blankets”

July is hardly the month to be talking about wool blankets, but as soon as Maddie Millington began her talk the audience forgot about the sweltering heat outside and concentrated on the riot of colour and creativity before them.

With a great deal of humour and charm Maddie took us on her journey from her City & Guilds wall hanging (shown hanging behind her in the photo below) to her cushions and beyond. A very entertaining talk which everyone seemed to enjoy.

WORKSHOP

The following day Maddie gave a workshop – making appliquéd cushions using dyed wool blankets. It was a lovely workshop, very Zen. (i.e. stress-free, lots of hand-stitching and incredibly productive)
