The morning session of the February morning was set aside for members’ own stitching and for new members to come for an informal coffee morning with our Chairman.
Hilary introduced the design committee’s concept for this year’s regional challenge and outlined all of the various ways that members can get involved. As always we hope that everyone feels able to contribute some stitch, and I think it is fair to say that this year’s design offers everyone a chance to do something, so, (in the words of the dance programme) ” get sti – tch – in”!
The afternoon speaker was Linda Onions, a quilter and embroiderer and indeed lifelong lover of all things stitch and textile (a fellow sufferer?) who took us through her work from its beginnings to current day. And what a colourful array of gorgeous pieces it was!
Linda also bought with her the sketchbooks relating to each of the pieces and many of us spent a lot of time afterwards examining everything in great detail, as you can see from the candid crowd shot below!
Linda Onions is also running a workshop for us. I look forward to bringing you the results next month.
