The morning session in July picked up where the June branch meeting left off – with Rona and rag rugging. A large gaggle of us sat round trying the two methods of rag rugging, and very quickly learned that it is a matter of shoving it through and pulling up its ears, or just keeping all your loops in a line!! Great fun, ably demonstrated by Rona and much appreciated by all – Thank you.
A few pieces of photographic evidence:-
The afternoon speaker was Sass Tetzlaff, who gave a talk entitled “Domestic Bliss” which was the topic of her dissertation. She took us through the whole thought process and concepts from the beginning to the end, looking at the role of women, the image of women and the idea of taking stitch (traditionally a female pursuit) to explore this.We all appreciated the thought process and the technical wizardry involved. Sass is an entertaining, delightful speaker and the afternoon passed by in an instant. She was also incredibly generous in allowing us to pore over her samples and the room was alive with an excited buzz.
